1. Tears are the fluid of the liver while the kidney governs the five kinds of fluids, so the main etiology in this case was liver and kidney deficiency causing failure to restrain the fluid.

2. Even though persistent lacrimation was not causing significant hindrance, it affected the quality of life of the patient. Due to the absence of obstruction of the lacrimal passage, this was a case of functional lacrimation. Given the chronic nature of the problem, it may take time to achieve clinical results.

3. Because there was no obstruction when then lacrimal passage was washed and the lacrimal flowing point was in a normal position, this was a case of functional lacrimation.
