Thoughts on the Connotation and Implementation Path of New Liberal Arts

—Taking Southwest University as an Example

Abstract：Humanities and social science is an important part of the country's soft power and provides value guidance and theoretical support for economic and social development. It bears the double responsibility of inheriting the excellent Chinese traditional culture and promoting the construction of advanced culture in the new era. The development of new liberal arts has become an inevitable requirement for the development of humanities and social science in the new era. At the same time，as one of the pioneers，explorers and leaders in the next round of higher education reform，the new liberal arts will inject new elements into the new engineering，new agricultural discipline，and new medical science. This paper describes the new situation facing the development of humanities and social science. Taking Southwest University as an example，it analyzes the problems of traditional liberal arts development，discusses the connotation of new liberal arts construction，and the path and thought of promoting the development of new liberal arts.
